Asbury is celebrating Black History Month with a unique 4 week Study series called “Freedom: Are We There Yet?” facilitated by Mr. Riley K. Temple.
The material included in this study is recommended but not required to participate.
-A book “The Cross and the Lynching Tree”,
-Martin Luther King’s “Letter from a Birmingham City Jail”,
-A Netflix film “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and
-The Piano Lesson available on YouTube.
To round out the study, there will be discussions on scriptures and a variety of Art by African American Artists.
The study will be on Zoom and live streamed on Facebook. It starts next Friday, February 12, 2021 at 7 pm and runs for 4 weeks. You can register for the study on Eventbrite.com

The facilitator, Riley K. Temple is a teacher, preacher and author. After 40 years practicing law in DC, he is a candidate for the Doctor of Ministry degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va.
Mr. Temple will offer a unique approach to Black History Month.
