One of my favorite movies is Mr. Holland’s Opus. In the last moments that marked the end of a lifetime of teaching, Mr. Holland is packing up his classroom—boxes stacked, memories tucked away—ready to quietly slip out the door. But before he can leave, someone invites him to the gym one last time. When he walks in, the room is full of hundreds of students whose lives he touched throughout the years. The scene is unexpected, beautiful, and heart-filling.

That is what this past week felt like for me!

Asbury, your pastoral appreciation, and the fellowship after worship for me were – a sacred surprise: unexpected, beautiful, and heart-filling. On behalf of the ministers, leaders, and my family, I want to say thank you, Asbury, for being you. Thank you for your love, your prayers, your generosity, and your trust.

You are the living opus—each act of kindness, each word of encouragement, each shared moment of faith—forming the music of our community. Amen.

With deep gratitude and joy,
Dr. Ron Bell
