As part of Asbury United Methodist Church’s Homecoming celebration, we preview its upcoming podcast series – Asbury UMC DC Oral Histories! And the first episode is available at Asbury’s YouTube channel!

The first episode features Bill Johnson, an Asbury member who attended the March on Washington in 1963 and had numerous roles in District government from 1963 through 1989. Listen to it on Asbury’s YouTube channel ahead of the event.

Project director Adelle Banks, Asbury Historian James Wright and Movies@Asbury co-leader Kelvin Childs will lead a discussion about Johnson’s podcast interview that touches on District, African American and national history.

Please register at Eventbrite for the link to the Zoom discussion.

The Asbury UMC DC Oral Histories podcast project is made possible through a grant from the DC Oral History Collaborative, a partnership of HumanitiesDC, Historical Society of Washington, D.C., and the DC Public Library.
